About The Area

Costa D'en Blanes can be found on the South West Coast of Mallorca and is perched on hills overlooking the impressive Palma Bay that takes in the resorts of Puerto Portals, Palmanova and Magaluf, and is perfectly situated to take advantage of all the surrounding heritage and stunning locations.

Palma the cosmopolitan city of Palma is a mere 10 minutes away by car. Palma is gothic, modernist, affluent and chic and is one of Europe's most exciting and appealing cities. Palma has a fantastic café culture and you will be able to explore the beautiful architecture of Palma cathedral and historic buildings, museums and art galleries, and of course the fashionable stores and boutiques, whilst enjoying a leisurely lunch in one of the many interesting cafe's and bars.

Puerto Portals is just a few minutes drive from Costa D'en Blanes. This luxury marina is the summer capital of Mallorca's jet-set. Celebrities, fashion icons and member's of the Spanish royal family all moor their yachts here in the privileged position on Palma Bay. The marina waterfront promenade has become a place to see and be seen, with a plentiful supply of Classy restaurants, cafes and bars.

Beaches
Cala Portals Nous
The closest beach is just a few minutes drive away - Cala Portals Nous. The beach is protected by the breakwater of Puerto Portals and the island of En Sales, which is located in front of the beach. It is easy to swim to the island, where you can then follow a small path to the top or else sunbathe on its own small beach. There are full facilities on the beach and just a stroll away from the cosmopolitan Puerto Portals.

Playa de Es Carregador
Less then 5 minutes away is the very large beach Playa de es Carregador with its thriving resort - Palmanova. The beach is large which is gently shelving making ideal for families, the beach has full facilities including life guards and first aid stations. For those who want to walk, one can cross the three beaches of Palmanova - Es Carragador, Cala Blanca and Son Maties - all the way up to the headland of Sa Torre Nova or Sa Porrassa. This is the site of an old defence tower, one of the landmarks of this coastal stretch, and offers good panoramic views of the bay of Palma.

Cala Portals Vells
Located about 10 minutes drive away lying within the Natural Area of Special Interest (ANEI) is the inlet of Portal Vells containing its three beaches. The beaches have an untamed feel about them, with vegetation extending down towards the shore, a large number of sea birds frequent this site for nesting. One of the main attractions of Cala Portals Vells is the 'cueva de la Mare de Deu', a cave located on the right hand side of the beach (if one is facing the sea). This is an old quarry from which blocks of stone were extracted during the 14th and 15th centuries to be used in the construction of Palma Cathedral and the Church of Santa Eulalia. The cave's interior features a figure of the virgin carved out from stone.

Golf
Enthusiasts will find Mallorca the ideal place for either planning a golfing holiday or for those who wish just a play a round. There are currently 17 courses on the island with a further 6/8 courses at the design and planning stage. There are excellent facilities, well located in lovely scenery, with a backcloth of mountains and edged by the sea.
